Much of this insight comes from Rich and Sarah’s extensive adventure travel in many regions around the world, where they’ve learned what truly matters on the trail and beyond.
Sarah also brings more than 11 years of experience working with an outfitter specializing in trekking, hiking, camping, and canoeing, adding an extra layer of expertise to the logistics and planning that keep your experience stress‑free from start to finish.
Adventure travel isn’t only about high‑altitude treks or leaping out of planes. If your journeys give you even two of the three following core components, you’re already an adventure traveller.
Let’s take that spirit a step further and plan a trip to a place you’ve always dreamed of exploring.
Connection with nature during travel often becomes the quiet thread that transforms a trip into something deeper. Stepping into wild spaces slows the pace of everyday life and opens room for presence, whether it’s the rhythm of waves, the stillness of a forest, or the vastness of a mountain view.
These moments create a sense of grounding and perspective, reminding us of our place in the world and inviting a kind of clarity that’s hard to access in routine. Many travellers find that this connection not only enriches their journey but also inspires a renewed appreciation for the natural world and their relationship with it.
Physical activity in adventure travel goes far beyond multi‑day treks and rugged expeditions. It often shows up in simple, accessible moments, like an afternoon hike to a waterfall, a short kayak through mangroves, or a guided night walk to watch the jungle transform after dark. Even wandering through small villages, swimming in natural pools, or taking a scenic bike ride can bring movement and a sense of discovery into your day.
These smaller adventures add energy and connection to your travels without requiring intense endurance.
Cultural immersion is what turns a trip into a truly meaningful experience. Spending time with the people who call that place home adds a deeper layer of connection and offers a glimpse into daily life.
These interactions create a richer, more authentic journey that stays with you long after you return.
Travel has shaped the way we see the world and the way we design every journey we create. These six destinations highlight experiences that have challenged us, inspired us, and deepened our love for meaningful adventure. They’re just a small glimpse into the kinds of places we’re passionate about sharing with our travellers.
Standing at the base of the world’s highest mountain is an experience that stays with you forever. The trek to Everest Basecamp blends breathtaking Himalayan scenery with meaningful physical and mental challenge. The journey takes you through Sherpa villages, across suspension bridges, and into landscapes that feel almost otherworldly. It’s a demanding adventure, but the sense of accomplishment and connection to the mountains is unlike anything else.
National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions
After having trekked our way to the iconic Everest Basecamp, we had a very difficult time finding an adventure that would top that experience. Exploring the untouched wilderness without the crowds made this experience one of the most memorable.
Our second home and if we aren't in Canada, you will probably find us spending time on the beautiful turquoise shores of the Red Sea. Egypt has an endless supply of places to explore, history to learn and amazing food to try! This is the one place in the world we’ve returned to countless times since 2018. We like to see Egypt as our specialty as a result of our deep connection to the people, culture and history.
This is a trip that changed the trajectory of our lives. We embarked on a self guided (FIT) journey with our 14 yr old daughter. We are firm believers that travelling with children does not only effect the way they see the world but also contributes to who they become as an adult and how they accept other countries and cultures.
A great example of how we combine both our love for the outdoors and a bit of R&R on the beach. Stunning hiking opportunities with vistas so beautiful they’re hard to put into words. The well-deserved beach-focused journeys can easily include experiences in nature and cultural interactions. If you are a beach lover, it doesn't mean that you wont love Adventure Travel.
In 2019 Sarah booked her flight and was walking the Camino de Santiago - Frances 2 weeks later. The journey was unplanned, raw and unforgettable. If it wasn't for a work commitment with a group in Cairo, she would have continued on beyond the 10 days that she had available.
